Bafana Bafana striker Ashley Cupido is off the mark at Israel National League outfit Kiryat Yam SC after bagging a brace in their 3-1 win over Maccabi Bney Reine on Monday night.

Cupido, 25, completed a season-long loan move from Stellenbosch FC in early July and has gotten his life off to the perfect start at Kiryat.

Cupido joined Stellies in a big-money move from Cape Town Spurs in 2024, but struggled for consistent game time before opting to seal a move away.

In the clash against Reine in the Toto Cup Leumit, the hosts were first to break the deadlock in the 41st minute through Sekou Sylla before Reine pulled one back five minutes later via Noaf Bazea.

The former Urban Warrior marksman then stepped up to give Kiryat the lead again in the 81st minute before completing his brace of the evening with another strike in the 94th minute.

Kiryat’s win propelled them to the top of the standings with four points after two outings and next face second-placed H.Akko on Thursday.

With the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in sight, Cupido will be hoping to work his way back into the senior Bafana Bafana setup where he has already netted once in three matches.
