Former Banyana Banyana captain Janine Van Wyk has expressed being excited about her new adventure in Europe.
Van Wyk took up an assistant coach post at Kristianstad DFF in Sweden after leading the side she co-founded to a second-place finish in the Hollywoodbets Super League last season.
The all-time most capped African player (both men and women) told iDiski Times journalist Lethabo Kganyago that she’s looking forward to making a meaningful contribution at her new side.
“I’m excited for a new challenge and a chance to grow even more as a coach,” Van Wyk told iDiski Times.
“I’m looking forward to pushing myself in a new environment and contributing meaningfully to the club. I expect to learn different perspectives and approaches from coaches that have been working in this role for a while.
Meanwhile, Van Wyk also spoke about how the opportunity came about.
“The opportunity came through on-going discussions and from the work I’ve done, being recognised internationally,” added the South African Hall of Famer.
“They were looking for a coach with experience, a strong identity, and the ability to build a competitive culture as well as develop the youth, and fortunately, our visions aligned.”
