St. Louis City midfielder Njabulo Blom was named in the Major League Soccer Team of Week after scoring his first senior goal in a Man of the Match performance on match-day 34.
A week ago, St. Louis secured their spot for MLS play-offs in their inaugural season and they cemented they will not just be underdogs with another win this weekend.
On Sunday morning, Blom played an important role in their 2-1 win over Bongokuhle Hlongwane’s Minnesota United. Blom netted the 2-1 winner via a superb strike, while Hlongwane remained goalless.
After the game, the Kaizer Chiefs academy product was named Man of the Match, and a day later he was also included in the MLS Team of the Week for the first time this season.
With African Cup Of Nations fast approaching, Blom will look to have a place in Hugo Broos’ Bafana squad that will go to the showpiece in January.
He has been named in the preliminary squad that will face Eswatini and Ivory Coast in friendly matches mid-October.
