Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom has been suspended by St. Louis City for “violation of team rules”.
Blom, 24, joined the Major League Soccer side in January 2023 under then coach Bradley Carnell.
However, after an impressive first season, during which the newly-formed MLS franchise broke several records, things have been tough this campaign – leading to the sacking of Carnell.
Meanwhile Blom has featured in 17 games this season but will miss the upcoming game due to suspension, as confirmed by interim coach John Hackworth.
“Njabulo is suspended for the game tomorrow, violation of team rules but we should be good after that. For now it is one game,” Hackworth said in the pre-match presser.
“Let me explain a little bit – when a player does something against our standard or our rules and there’s a situation like this, the player is always welcome back because the idea is they learn a valuable lesson and then come back and are even stronger. So that’s my expectation with him.
“I feel like I had a really good relationship since the day he arrived, it didn’t look that way the other night. So we gonna correct that. I don’t think there will be any problems going forward.”
