Burnley head coach Scott Parker has made a bold admission regarding Bafana Bafana’s primary striker, Lyle Foster.
The 25-year-old made a significant impact in Burnley’s previous match, coming off the bench to inspire a spirited performance from The Clarets.
Foster was introduced in the 69th minute, replacing Albanian striker Armando Broja, and had little time making his presence felt.
In the second half, Foster found the back of the net to give Burnley a crucial 2–1 lead against Tottenham Hotspur. His goal injected belief and energy into the team. However, Spurs responded late on, scoring an equaliser to secure a point away from home.
Speaking after the match, Parker admitted that Burnley felt Foster’s absence keenly when he was away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with Bafana Bafana.
“I was pleased for Lyle. He made a big difference when he came on and was in the right place at the right time to score a good goal [against Spurs],” said Parker, according to the club’s website.
“We missed him when he was at AFCON. He’s a big threat.”
Getting a goal against Spurs last weekend, Foster had last scored for Burnley in October in a league match against Wolves.
This season, he has made 16 appearances, scored three goals and providing one assist.
