Chiefs Target Becomes Available

After being released by his Russian club, FC Fakel Voronezh, for compassionate reasons, Kaizer Chiefs target Thabo Cele is a free agent.

Cele had spent the season in Russia, but in a statement released by the club on Wednesday, Cele has been released by the club to go back to South Africa to attend to a family issue.

The club added that according to the agreement, Cele would only be eligible to sign for a club in South Africa for the duration of his contract with Voronezh.

Prior to joining the Russian club, Cele had been linked to Chiefs several times, and it is believed that the 28-year-old’s representatives are already in discussions with the club again. Being a free agent, Cele’s move would not have to be completed before Tuesday’s transfer window deadline day.

“Due to serious health problems in the family, the midfielder and the club terminated the contract,” the club said on their website.

“According to the agreement between Cele and the club, the footballer will only be able to play for teams from South Africa until the end of the current contract.

“We wish the player good luck in his future career, and health to Sele’s family. All the best to you, Thabo!”
