Davids Visits EPL Giants Liverpool

Former Maritzburg United and Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids, who is now at Raja Club Athletic in Morocco, spent some time at Premier League giants Liverpool recently as he continues his UEFA Pro Licence.

Davids re-united with Josef Zinnbauer at Raja, having previously been his assistant at Pirates and at Lokomotiv Moscow.

The 42-year-old and Mandla Ncikazi, led the Bucs as co-coaches for a season, after Zinnbauer’s exit, reaching the CAF Confederations Cup final.

While being an assistant at Raja, Davids is currently working on completing his UEFA Pro Licence, and he and others completing the course, including former Manchester City player Joey Barton, spent time at Liverpool’s training ground and with Reds’ staff.

“‘Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave,'” Davids posted on social media.

“Another inspiring trip to meet up with my colleagues and lecturers on the UEFA Pro License course.

“Fantastic time learning from the Liverpool staff. I’m looking forward to the next trip.

“Now, back in Casablanca to continue our work with our special club, Raja Athletic.”

One of the lessons was conducted by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders, with Davids set to complete the UEFA Pro License in July next year, which will make him one of very few South Africans to hold the highest coaching qualification in world football.
