Dithejane – Why I Moved To MLS

Chicago Fire winger Puso Dithejane has opened up on his move to Major League Soccer brushing off suggestions it was a money motivated move.

Dithejane, 22, joined Fire at the beginning of the year at the same time as countryman Mbekezeli Mbokazi however from TS Galaxy and he has so far featured in 11 matches and has scored one goal.

Throughout his career Dithejane has maintained that his sights are on playing in the highest leagues in Europe and he acknowledges that moving to America is a stepping stone for his dreams.

Speaking to iDiski Times senior journalist Lorenz Köhler in edition 266 of the newspaper, he explained that he wanted to challenge himself in a different environment tougher than the Betway Premiership.

“For me, I’d say America is a different country from South Africa,” Dithejane told iDiski Times.

“This side, you can learn new things that are not yeah. Different level of finishing. In South Africa, and the league, it’s one of the highest leagues in the world.

“You know, I think it’s in the top 10. Yeah, so I’d say for me coming here is not about money. It’s not about anything. I want to build my brand, and I want to achieve something for my career.

“So, I came here to start my career afresh and want to achieve my goal. You know, yeah.”
