Lyle Foster and Burnley will kick off the 2024/25 campaign against fellow relegated teams Luton Town.
Foster, 23, featured in 24 Premier League games under Vincent Kompany last season, but suffered immediate relegation after only gaining promotion in 2022/23.
The Bafana Bafana striker scored five goals and had three assists, but his campaign was also disrupted by an injury and mental health issues.
While Kompany has since become the coach of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, Burnley are yet to announce their new head coach, with Kompany’s former assistant Craig Bellamy one of the main candidates.
Despite the uncertainty around the club’s dugout, they have now found out their 2024/25 fixtures, which were released on Wednesday.
Burnley will kick-off the new campaign with a trip to Luton Town on 12 August, before hosting Cardiff City on 17 August.
The Clarets will hope to have a similar successful campaign like in 2022/23 when they secured promotion with seven games to spare – a Championship record – under Kompany.
Below are Burnley’s first 2024/25 Championship fixtures:
- Monday 12th August – Luton Town (A)
- Saturday 17th August – Cardiff City (H)
- Saturday 24th August – Sunderland (A)
- Saturday 31st August – Blackburn Rovers (H)
- Saturday 14th September – Leeds United (A)
