Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster has revealed he has fond memories of his time at Orlando Pirates and expressed his excitement to work with Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany.
Foster, 22, joined Championship leaders Burnley this week in what is believed a new South African record transfer worth an initial €7 million, but could rise to €10 million should the Clarets get promoted to the Premier League.
In his first interview with his new club, Foster went down memory lane and recalled his time at Orlando Stadium.
“I came through the ranks at Orlando Pirates, I was there for quite some time and I loved my years there,” he told Burnley’s media team.
“From there I went to Monaco, I had a little stint in Belgium, Portugal and then back to Belgium and I’m here and like I said I’m very, very happy to be here.”
He also expressed his excitement to work with Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, who has won four Premier League titles during his playing days.
“From the moment I got here, I felt very welcome,” Foster added.
“I’ve been following and watching a lot of Burnley’s games recently and I really, really enjoy their style of play and I think the coach is a great coach.
“For me to be coached by a legend like him is an honour for me.
“I grew up watching him play and I’ve played one game against him and now him being my coach and getting to learn and absorb that knowledge every day is a dream come true.”
Foster could make his Burnley debut on Saturday when his new side take on Ipswich in the FA Cup.
