After his Man of the Match performance, Bafana Bafana forward Bongokuhle Hlongwane made the Major League Soccer Team of the Week, alongside another former Premier Soccer League player.

Hlongwane produced a stellar display on Saturday after being involved in both goals that saw his side Minnesota United claiming a 2-1 win over Teenage Hadebe’s Houston Dynamo.

The 22-year-old assisted the first goal that was scored by the Argentinian Franco Fragapane just before half-time. He then netted himself to make it two for Minnesota, which was his first goal of the season.

United looked solid at the back with former SuperSport United defender Michael Boxall pulling the strings even though Dynamo managed to pull one back late in the game.

The former Maritzburg United striker hasn’t missed a single game this season in the MLS, playing in all 22 matches scoring once and assisting on four occasions.

As a consequence of their fine displays, both Hlongwane and Boxall were named in the MLS Team of the Week.
