Kaizer Chiefs legend Reneilwe Letsholonyane has reflected on his coaching experience in Zimbabwe, where he served as an assistant coach under Thabo Senong at FC Platinum.
‘Yeye’ joined Platinum in July during the second round of the Zimbabwean Castle Premier Soccer League, which is scheduled to conclude in November.

His move to Zimbabwe came after he parted ways with Botswana Premier League club Matebele FC in June. Letsholonyane enjoyed a successful spell at the club, helping them retain their top-flight status while also earning a Coach of the Season nomination.
Reflecting on his time at FC Platinum, Letsholonyane described the experience as a “good challenge”, although he admitted that it has not been easy.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder added that having fellow South Africans within the technical team has made the transition easier, while the language barrier has not presented a major obstacle.
“Look, it has been a good challenge, if I may put it that way. I mean it’s not easy to get out of your own comfort zone, which is your country, your home, to go and work outside the country. It’s not easy, but football is universal, football is football, you get to do what you love,” Letsholonyane told iDiski Times.
“For us, we are doing what we love, which is being coaches and helping to improve players, help to improve individuals and, of course, the team in general.
“So besides being the comfort of your country, any other thing, another factor that makes it easier is that at least it’s me, coach Thabo, and our strength and conditioning guy. So also, the language is not that much of a barrier.
“So, it’s not bad, to be honest, the team, everyone on the side welcomed us well and we get the support that we sort of might want or need to try and do our job as easily as possible. So yeah, we are coping and we’re happy.”
Yeye’s time at Platinum FC, though, has come to an end, as he is set to take another head coach role in Botswana. Onismor Bhasera has replaced him as assistant of Senong.
