Several South African footballers abroad made an immense impact, with Thembinkosi Lorch, Antonio van Wyk and Ranga Chivaviro finding the back of the net.

Lorch, who was recently unveiled by Libyan giants Al Ittihad last week after joining from Wydad Casablanca, netted on his debut.

He was introduced in the second half and helped his new side secure a 1-0 win over Al Shomoa on Sunday evening.

In Austria, Antonio van Wyk found the back of the net in a big league match against LASK, scoring his side’s goal in a 1-1 draw.

His countryman and teammate, Yusuf Maart, also featured, playing the full 90 minutes and emerging as one of the outstanding players on the day.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro continued his fine goalscoring form by netting the opening goal for Al-Adalah SC in their pulsating 2-2 draw away to Al-Orobah in the Saudi First Division on Saturday.

In England, Lyle Foster provided an assist for Burnley, setting up Josh Laurent’s goal as his side lost 2-1 to Mansfield in the FA Cup.

In Germany, Bafana Bafana defender Ime Okon played 75 minutes as his side, Hannover 96, secured a 3-2 victory over Hertha Berlin.

In Belgium, Shandre Campbell played 24 minutes in a 2-1 win over Cercle Brugge KSV in the Jupiler Pro League.

Elsewhere, Siviwe Magidigidi made his debut for Beerschot VA in the Challenger Pro League, coming on in the 89th minute.

In Portugal, Sphephelo Sithole played 46 minutes in Tondela’s 1-1 draw against Alverca.

In Cyprus, Thapelo Maseko earned his first start as AEL Limassol lost 1-0 to Pafos, while his South African teammate Luther Singh played only 16 minutes after coming off the bench in the second half.
