Nkota’s Pre-Season Fixtures Revealed

New Ettifaq Club signing Mohau Nkota is gearing up for five high-profile preseason fixtures against two Spanish teams, two Portuguese outfits and one UAE side from next week.

The 20-year-old attacker sealed a big money move to the Saudi Pro League outfit on Sunday, with Orlando Pirates confirming that it was a permanent transfer for the speedy winger who had a dream debut season eSgodini.

Nkota’s no-show during Pirates’ two preseason matches out in Spain raised a few eyebrows but no one really predicted it would be because of a pending transfer where he will now be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, N’golo Kante, Sadio Mane and Aleksandar Mitrović in Saudi Arabia.

The Commandos take on Liga Portugal 2 side Portimonense on Tuesday, 22 July, before they meet Farense seven days later (Tuesday, 29 July).

On Sunday, 3 August, Ettifaq then tackle Al-Jazira before they round off their preparations against Cadiz Mirandilla and Cadiz FC on Wednesday, 6 August.

The Kimberley-born winger will be eager to impress before the new campaign gets underway in order to improve his chances of a regular showing at national team level with the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations not very far.

Ettifaq is the same team that was once managed by former Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerard and had players like Jordan Henderson, Karlo Toko Ekambi just to mention a few.

Last season, they finished seventh in the 18-team league.
