Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed his latest move to Abha Club in Saudi Arabia.
Mosimane returns to Saudi Arabia after previously leading Al Ahli Jeddah back into the Saudi Pro League by winning the Yelo League.
After a brief intermezzo at Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, which lasted just 10 days, Mosimane had become a free agent in October, and he had stated he’s waiting for the right project.
He’s now taken on the task to keep Abha, who currently sit in 17th place, in the Saudi Pro League.
“MT Sports Marketing and Management is proud to announce that Coach Pitso Mosimane and his technical team are returning to Saudi Arabia as his appointment as the Head Coach of Abha Club in Abha, Saudi Arabia has been confirmed,” his agency confirmed.
Mosimane himself added: “I am happy to be returning to Saudi Arabia with an exciting challenge awaiting. Abha Club has had a quick rise to the Saudi Pro League, considering they were playing in the 3rd Division just four seasons ago.
“Now as the club faces its toughest challenge yet, I am honored that the Board has entrusted me with the task of keeping the team in the Pro League.”
With 15 games left of the season, Mosimane will lead his first league fixture in Abha on the 15 of February as players return from Asian Cup and AFCON tournaments.
“We are confident that our coaches will work hard to ensure that the “Leaders of the South” defend their place in the Pro League. Coach Pitso Mosimane and his team’s brand of excellence and deliverance of results will shine through”, said MT Sports Managing Director, Moira Tihagale.
