Pitso Mosimane’s Al Wahda advanced to the quarter-finals of the King Salman Cup despite their 1-0 defeat to Raja Atheltic Club.
The Botola Pro side, managed by Josef Zinnbauer secured Group D ahead of Moismane – who fielded a second-string side in their final game.
Both sides were already qualified for the next round and the South African coach made nine changes to his starting eleven as he offered to rest his key players.
Zakaria El-Wardi netted the only goal of the game for the Moroccan giants in the dead rubber as Kuwait SC and CR Belouizdad were already eliminated.
They now await the final Group C games where either side could be matched up with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in the last-eight stage of the competition.
