Pitso Leaves Relegation Spots

Pitso Mosimane’s Abha Club snuck out of the relegation zone in the Saudi Pro League after they played to a goalless draw against 10th-placed Damak on Friday evening.

Mosimane and his team went into the game knowing a draw or win would move them out of the bottom three spots, and Abha had a great opportunity to go in front in the 16th minute after a penalty was awarded for a handball in the box.

But Grzegorz Krychowiak’s penalty attempt was saved by Algerian goalkeeper Moustapha Zeghba.

After a goalless first half where apart from the penalty, Damak had the better opportunities, Abha started to take control in the second 45, creating several chances to take the lead.

But after 90 minutes, neither team were able to break the duck and it ended goalless.

The result sees Abha move one point above Al Akhdoud into 15th position.
