Pitso Loses To Gerrard

Pitso Mosimane lost to Steven Gerrard’s El Ettifaq with a former striker coming back to haunt Abha FC.

Mosimane’s side had ended their 10-match losing streak after beating Al-Tai 2-0 last week.

However, their celebrations were short-lived as they dropped points against Ettifaq on Saturday.

Ettifaq, who are coached by former Liverpool midfielder Gerrard, already dominated the first half but failed to score. But in the 54th minute, last week’s two-goal hero Grzegorz Krychowiak scored an own goal for Abha.

Former Abha striker Karl Toko Ekambi then came back to haunt his former club to make it 2-0 after 73 minutes.

Meanwhile, former Olympique Lyon forward Moussa Dembele made it 3-0 for Ettifaq in the 89th minute to complete a dominant win.

The loss saw Abha fall back into 17th place after Al-Tai won their own fixture. The gap to the non-relegation spots is five points.

Mosimane and his side have another must-win game next week when they will face 15th-placed Al Riyadh.
