Pitso Mosimane registered his first win as head coach of Esteghlal FC who fought off a stubborn Mes Rafsanjan FC side to walk away 1-0 victors on Saturday evening.
Mosimane had started his reign with back-to-back defeats after going down 2-0 to Tractor FC with that defeat coming just five days after a 3-1 loss to Kheybar Khorramabad FC.
Their latest defeat was against to Saudi giants Al Hilal in the Asian Champions League, with former Fulham and Newcastle United striker Mitrovic netting a hat-trick.
The South African tactician however masterminded his first win in the Persian Gulf Pro League courtesy of Abolfazi Zamani’s 10th minute strike.
Mosimane’s charges also made a huge leap in the log standings as they moved from 14th to 10th with 11 points from 10 matches.
This was just Esteghlal’s third league win in 10 outings with Mosimane now hoping that the maximum points can lift the team’s moral moving forward.
