Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has lost his first game in charge of Abha Club – a 2-0 friendly defeat against Al Hilal Omdurman.
Mosimane took over Abha a week ago and started work with the Saudi Pro League side along with his trusted technical team.
While their first official match is only on 15 February against Al-Taawoun, they had their first practice match under the South African.
The Sudanese side, who are coached by Mosimane’s friend Florent Ibenge, scored two second-half goals to hand Mosimane his first defeat with Abha.
But it would’ve been a welcome test for Mosimane to see where his team stands.
In the league, Abha are without a win in eight games, losing seven of those, and have dropped to 17th place on the log, five points away from safety.
Abha are Mosimane’s second club in Saudi Arabia after he guided Al Ahli back into the Saudi Arabia but left the club before the Public Investment Fund took over.
