Pitso Mosimane and his Abha Football Club suffered a massive setback in the relegation race in the Saudi Pro League.
The South African tactician and Abha dropped back into the relegation spots after losing 4-0 to their direct rival Al Akhdood on Saturday.
The home side scored the opener in the 40th minute via Solomon Kvirkvelia, while Yassen Al-Zubaidi made it 2-0 in 47th minute.
Mosimane’s side missed a golden opportunity to cut their deficit when captain Saad Bguir missed a penalty in the 61st minute.
The hosts scored somewhat against the run of play to make it 3-0 via Juan Pedroza after 74 minutes, hitting the final nail in the coffin of Abha.
Things even got worse when Al Akhdood made it 4-0 in the second minute of injury-time vis abdulazizi Al Hatila.
Abha dropped to 17th with 25 points, while Al Akhdood, who had just collected one point in their last eight games, moved out of the relegation spots into 15th with 27 points.
There are five more games left to play for Mosimane to secure Abha’s Pro League status. Under Mosimane, they have collected 11 of their 25 points in 10 games so far.
Next week, Mosimane and his men have another mammoth task, facing unbeaten log leaders Al Hilal.
