Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad Athletic bounced back to winning ways in the Botola Pro League as they beat Moghreb Atlético Tetuán 2-1 on Saturday evening.
It was a good away win for Wydad, who went up early thanks to a 17th-minute penalty from Mohamed Rayhi.
Rayhi then doubled the lead twelve minutes later with his second goal, with an assist by Cassius Mailula, which gave Mokwena’s boy a 2-0 lead at the break.
Tetuán threatened a comeback in the second and pulled a goal back just before the hour mark, via defender Mohamed Rahim.
But in the end it was a hard-fought last 30 minutes, and Wydad were able to hold out for the victory and morale-boosting win.
It was Wydad’s seventh victory in 17 games this season, and moves them up to 27 points and fifth position, 12 behind leaders RS Berkane, but only three points behind second-placed AS FAR.
