SA tactician Rulani Mokwena steered MC Alger into the last 16 of the Coupe d’Algerie after a 2-1 win over USM Khenchela.
After beating El Bayadh 1-0 in the previous round, Mokwena’s charges continued their fine form to overcome Khenchela at home.
Amine Messoussa opened the scoring for Mokwena’s side just six minutes in, but the home side saw their celebration cut short after Khenchela equalised just five minutes later through Hamid Djaouchi.
Alger restored their advantage with Soufiane Bayazid striking in the 49th minute to all but hand his side the all-important win as they advanced into the last 16 round.
