Rulani Mokwena’s Al Ittihad have kept their title hopes alive after a late winner against Olympic Azzawiya.
Al Ittihad came to this game under a massive pressure after dropping points in the last two games, a loss to Swehly after the Libyan Football Association handed them three points following a game-abandoned.

Immediately after that they played a 1-1 draw against Elettihad away from home, when Stephane Aziz Ki scored a late equaliser for Mokwena’s side.
It was all to play for against Azzawiya, as they needed maximum points to keep their title hopes alive. But the away side opened the scoring in the 41st minute.
Aziz Ki, though, again came through for Ittihad, first equalising in the 50th minute through a penalty before completing a late brace eight minutes into injury-time.
The victory saw Al Ittihad climb to eight points from five games in the playoffs, but they are five behind leaders Swehly in first spot and three behind second-placed Al-Ahli Tripoli at the halfway mark.
Mokwena’s men will need a strong second half in the playoffs, as only the winner of the Group A will qualify to face the winner of Group B for the league title.
