Rulani’s Wydad Secure Dramatic Win

Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad AC registered a dramatic late win to keep their CAF Champions League qualification hopes alive.

Wydad came to the game under massive pressure after Renaissance Zemamra and MAS, who occupy second and third place, collected maximum points.

The Red Castle didn’t start the game as they would have wished as they conceded inside 17 minutes, Youssef Kajai drew the first blood.

But it didn’t take long for Wydad to find the equaliser as Mohamed Rayhi converted from the penalty spot and took his goal tally to seven this season.

The game went into the break all level despite Wydad AC being in control of the game and dictating the temper.

Wydad searched for the second goal but they couldn’t break the US Touarga low block for large parts in the game.

Bouna Amar had a glorious opportunity with only 20 minutes left after a great cross from Aqzdaou but failed to hit the target his header went wide and the score remained 1-1.

Despite pilling the pressure Rulani Mokwena’s side failed to create clear goal-scoring opportunities, and it looked like they were losing crucial points in the race for second place.

However, in the 86th minute Wydad found the winner after El Mehdi Moubarik netted a volley to make it 2-1.

Wydad moved into fifth place, with 30 points from 18 games, four behind second-placed Zemamra.
