Thembinkosi Lorch and Luther Singh delivered notable performances for their respective clubs abroad over the past weekend.
Lorch continued his impressive start at Al Ittihad in Libya, scoring in the 18th minute during his side’s emphatic 4–1 league victory over Al Shomooa. The goal marked his second for the club in just a few appearances.
The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker now boasts two goals and one assist in his first four matches since completing his move during the recent transfer window.
Meanwhile, Singh found the net for AEL Limassol, although his strike was not enough to prevent a 2–1 defeat against Apollon Limassol in Cyprus. His South African teammate Thapelo Maseko made a second-half cameo, playing the final 20 minutes.
In England, Lyle Foster completed the full match as Burnley FC suffered a 2–0 loss to Everton FC.
Elsewhere in England, Luke Le Roux remained on the bench as Portsmouth FC drew 1–1 with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. In the same league, Tylon Smith played six minutes when QPR lost 4-0 to Middlesbrough.
In the Bundesliga 2, Ime Okon featured for 46 minutes as Hannover 96 fell 2–1 to Greuther Fürth.
Over in Denmark, Gift Links played the full 90 minutes as Aarhus GF shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw with FC Midtjylland.
In Belgium, Shandre Campbell was an unused substitute as Club Brugge and RSC Anderlecht played out a 2–2 draw in the Jupiler Pro League.
In Austria, Antonio van Wyk and Yusuf Maart both played 76 minutes as their side Ried lost 2-0 to Austria Vienna in a league match.
Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia, Elias Mokwana played 68 minutes as Al Hazem lost 2–1 to Al Khaleej. Mohau Nkota was not included in the squad as Al Ettifaq drew 1–1 with Al Shabab FC.
In the United States, Mbekezeli Mbokazi played the full match as Chicago Fire FC held Columbus Crew to a 0–0 draw in Major League Soccer. Elsewhere, Bongokuhle Hlongwane played 66 minutes as Minnesota United FC lost 3–1 to Nashville SC.
Olwethu Makhanya watched from the stands while serving a suspension following his red card in the previous match, with Philadelphia Union going down 1–0 to San Jose Earthquakes.
