Singh & Maart Make Notable Impact Abroad

South African stars plying their trade abroad, including Luther Singh and Yusuf Maart, made a notable impact for their respective clubs over the past weekend.

Singh found the back of the net for AEL Limassol as they secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Aris Limassol in the Cyprus League on Sunday afternoon.

His fellow South African teammate Thapelo Maseko was an unused substitute on the day, watching from the bench as the hosts sealed the win.

Maseko, who is on loan from Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, had made his debut in the previous fixture, featuring for 12 minutes in a 2–1 defeat to Anorthosis.

In Austria, former Kaizer Chiefs captain Maart delivered an impressive performance, providing an assist for the second goal in his side’s emphatic 3–0 victory over SK Rapid in the Ã–FB Cup quarter-finals.

Maart’s fellow South African teammate Antonio van Wyk also started the encounter but was withdrawn in the second half as the team comfortably booked their place in the next round.

In Germany, Bafana Bafana defender Ime Okon was an unused substitute for Hannover 96 as they edged Magdeburg 2–1 in the Bundesliga 2.

Meanwhile in England, midfielder Luke Le Roux remained on the bench as Portsmouth claimed an impressive 3–0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship.

In Romania, defender Siyabonga Ngezana was also an unused substitute as FCSB recorded a narrow 1–0 victory over Csikszereda M. Ciuc in the Superliga.

In Portugal, Sphephelo Sithole played the whole 90 minutes when his side Tondela drew 0-0 with Benfica on Sunday evening.
