Tau Has Night To Forget As Ahly Fall To Fluminense In CWC

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau had a night to forget as Al Ahly fell to a 2-0 defeat to Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final.

The CAF inter-club Player of the Year was undoubtedly the danger-man, as he was man-marked by Real Madrid and Brazil legend Marcelo.

And while he got the better of the 35-year-old on several occasions, it was two pivotal moments from the South African that he’d like to forget.

Albeit a controversial call, he fouled Marcelo in the area foe Jhon Arias’ opener from the spot on 70 minutes, and shortly after missed a golden chance to draw Ahly level.

Hussein El Shahat’s pin-point delivery found him free in the area, but his header went straight at Fábio, which one one of five attempts on target for the Red Devils.

While they relinquished possession to the tournament debutants, they by far looked the more threatening with over 20 attempts at goal, mostly on transitions.

But the South Americans made their opportunities count as 21-year-old John Kennedy made it 2-0 on 90 minutes to secure the victory.

However, they now await the loser of the match between Urawa Red Diamonds and Manchester City tomorrow, while the Brazilian side progress to the final.
