Two SA Talents Train With Eredivisie Side

Two youngsters from the Western Cape recently went for an assessment with Eredivisie side FC Utrecht.

Luke Hendricks, 16, the son of former PSL player Byrone Hendricks, from the Ubuntu Academy and Asher Field, 16, from Stellenbosch FC were recently invited for an assessment by FC Utrecht.

The Dutch side finished in seventh place in the 2023/24 season but missed out on qualification to the UEFA Conference League via the playoffs.

The opportunity for the two South African talents was arranged by Rasthoem Simons of 5sSports/SimTours after they had taken part in a local soccer camp.

“The boys did extremely well during their time there,” Rasthoem Simons of 5sSports/SimTours told iDiski Times.

“We have given the feedback to their parents and clubs, and the future looks bright for the two young talents

“In July, we will host coaches from FC Porto in Cape Town, and this will provide further opportunities for players to be assessed by European scouts and coaches.”
