Why Foster Missed Arsenal Match

Burnley coach Scott Parker has explained why Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster was forced to miss the match against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Clarets suffered a 2-0 home defeat against a rampant Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side, who extended their winning run to nine consecutive matches across all competitions.

Foster was a notable absentee with Ashley Barnes taking his place in the team, starting on the bench.

Just last week, the former AS Monaco man, Foster, was a hero for Burnley, scoring the late winning goal in their 3-2 victory away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After the Arsenal match, Parker was asked in his interview to explain the reason for the 25-year-old’s exclusion from the squad that played the log-leading side.

“He was sick. He reported sickness yesterday [Friday] and went home yesterday, so he didn’t make it today,” said Parker, as quoted by Burnley Express.

In his eight Premier League appearances this season, Foster has contributed to three goals, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
