Zungu Clears Air On Amiens Future

Bongani Zungu has cleared the air on his Amiens future after he had hit out the club and in particular coach Philippe Hinschberger, who had claimed the South African was overweight.

The midfielder had given an exclusive interview to Soccer Laduma, where he explained he doesn’t want to be at the club, saying “my time here is finished”.

He also hit back at Hinschberger and revealed that he asked him not to disrespect him by telling the media he is overweight.

In addition, Zungu also stated that he feels Amiens are holding him back because several clubs had tried to sign him but the Ligue 2 side’s asking price was too much.

Zungu had stated that he wants out of the club immediately, insisting even “in December I don’t want to still be here”.

He has now taken to social media to apologise for his remarks, saying some points “were exaggerated” before insisting that he is still at the disposal of the coach.

“I want to give some clarification on what was released in the news on Monday. Some sentences were exaggerated,” he said in a statement.

“I can be clumsy but I am honest. I am attached to Amiens. I have nothing but respect for the club, for the president, for the coach, for all the people that are working hard here and for the fans.

“Just like you, I have concerns about the situation. Amiens does not belong to the bottom of Ligue 2.

“It is not a time to fight each other. It’s not just about me. What is at stake is above us. We have to work all together and make it up. Right now, it is the only thing that matters.

“I know I can help the team on the pitch. I remain at the disposal of the coach and I am sure that I will have a chance to know him better.

“Bongani Zungu.”

Zungu has not featured for Amiens since the return from his loan at Rangers, which was postponed due to visa issues and having to go into quarantine upon his return to France.
