Downs Ladies Rampant, UWC Hammer UJ

This past weekend’s Hollywoodbets Super League ties saw defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies humble Richmond United 6-0 while the University of the Western Cape scored five unanswered goals against the University of Johannesburg.

The in-form Boitumelo Rabale and Melinda Kgadiete scored respective braces before Bambanani Mbane, and new kid Katleho Malebana chipped in the other two goals for the defending champions who stayed top of the log with 28 points. Sundowns are the only side yet to concede and lose this season while they have scored 30 goals so far. Meanwhile, Richmond remained third from bottom with four points in six matches.

Elsewhere, TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies maintained second spot with a 3-1 victory over newcomers Ezemvelo away in Durban. Thabiso Senyatsi’s second half brace and Khutso Mogano’s late strike were enough to give Christina Kutumela’s side their sixth win of the campaign and 21 points in 10 outings. The KZN-based rookies remained in ninth place in as many outings with 12 points.

TS Galaxy Queens completed the top three with a narrow 1-0 win over University of Cape Town at Kanyamazane Stadium with veteran midfielder Leandra Smeda’s goal the difference as Galaxy reduced the point difference with TUT to just a point from nine games. The newcomers remained in 13th position with six points from eight encounters.
