Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies handed TS Galaxy Queens their first defeat of the season in the Hollywoodbets Super League, beating them 2-0 at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale this past weekend.
Isabella Ludwig and Ronnel Donnelly, who was returning from a long injury layoff, were on target in the top-of-the-table clash in the Super Era stream. Sundowns remained at the top of the log with 15 points in five outings. The Rockets stayed in second position with 10 points from the same number of games.
University of Pretoria took third place in the pool with nine points after a 2-1 defeat of Diepkloof Ladies. S’bahle Ndlovu scored a brace for Tuks as they accumulated nine points while Emily Moholoholo scored the consolation for the newbies who remained second from bottom with three points both from five games.
The University of Western in Cape survived a scare, scoring a late goal against Copperbelt Ladies thanks to Sibulele Holweni. This was the Blues’ first victory in three outings, and they are in fifth position with seven points. UWC is behind the Limpopo side who have nine points. In the other result in the stream, Richmond United were 4-2 winners over Stellenbosch Ladies.
In the Super Rise stream, JVW FC were held to a 2-2 draw by the University of Fort Hare however maintained top spot in the group with 13 points. Cimone Sauls and Bonolo Mokoma scored for the Blue Diamonds while Michelle Sampson and Kesha Hendricks netted for Fort Hare who are in fifth place with six points.
University of Johannesburg were held to a goalless stalemate by First Touch Academy however the Orange Army maintained second position in the pool with 10 points while the Limpopo-based outfit are third from bottom with six points.
In the other result in the stream, Tshwane University of Technology defeated Ezemvelo 3-0.
Meanwhile, the match between City Lads and Ramatlaohle didn’t go ahead after the home team in the fixture City Lads did not have their playing kit available. The side from Gqeberha forfeited the match with Ramatlaohle awarded a 2-0 win and three points. City Lads who are at the bottom of the table with no points, are expected to appear before a SAFA Disciplinary Committee.
