Downs Return To Winning Ways

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies maintained top spot on the Hollywoodbets Super League log, as they returned to winning ways with a 5-1 drubbing of Durban Ladies, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.

Miche Minnies and Salome Kekana scored braces, while Nthabiseng Majiya came off the bench to score her fourth goal of the season and help the defending champions amass 12 points at the summit from five matches.

University of Pretoria (Tuks) maintained a close following behind Sundowns as they inflicted more misery on Thunderbirds Ladies with a 3-1 victory at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium. Maud Khumalo’s charges have the same number of points as Sundowns from the same number of matches, however with an inferior goal difference.

Meanwhile the Eastern Cape based outfit remains at the foot of the table as the only side yet to register any points.

University of Johannesburg (UJ) complete the top three this week after hammering TS Galaxy Queens 4-1 at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium. Thato Mofolo scored a brace, while Gugu Dhlamini and Adrielle Mibe were also on the score sheet for UJ with Busisiwe Ndimeni scoring the consolation for Galaxy. UJ now have 10 points in five games while the Rockets dropped to seventh spot with nine points from the same number of games.

Elsewhere Copperbelt Ladies came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Richmond United at Merino Park. The Limpopo side remains the only unbeaten outfit in the league this season and they sit in fourth place on the log with nine points, while United dropped to ninth with eight points.
