Sundowns Ladies Run Riot In Tshwane Derby

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies opened a three-point gap at the top of the Hollywoodbets Super League log as they annihilated University of Pretoria (Tuks) 8-0 in the Tshwane derby over the weekend.

Nthabiseng Majiya scored a brace in the first half before Asanda Hade and Lebo Ramalepe also recorded their names on the scoresheet. Refilwe Tholakele, Karabo Dhlamini, Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Miche Minnies completed the rout for Masandawana as the defending champions stayed top of the log standings with 34 points from 13 matches.

Majiya’s brace took her goal tally to seven league goals, joined-third with teammate Minnies and University of Johannesburg’s Gugu Dhlamini. The number one spot currently belongs to Sundowns’ Boitumelo Rabale with 10 goals in eight games, while UJ’s Thato Mofolo is second with eight goals from the same number of games. Tuks remained in seventh position on the log with 22 points from the same number of matches.

Meanwhile, Royal AM defeated TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies 3-1 in the only other match that played this weekend. Both sides made no movements either as they remained in eighth and 10th places on the table, respectively. The KwaZulu Natal-based side reduced the gap between themselves and Tuks to just one point. TUT have 15 points in 13 outings. The league takes a recess this weekend with Banyana Banyana involved in international friendlies against Senegal on Friday, May 1, and June 4 away from home.
