The 2023 Hollywoodbets Super League Awards nominees have been announced with the ceremony set for Saturday 9 December at the Vodacom Dome in Gauteng.
Rookies University of Pretoria (Tuks) and University of Western Cape (UWC) dominate the nominations with both being nominated in four categories.
Tuks’ striker Wendy Shongwe is in the Player of the Season category with Boitumelo Rabale of Mamelodi Sundowns and UWC captain Bongeka Gamede while Mmabatho Mogale is in the Young Player of the Season category with UJ’s Adrielle Mibe and City Lads’ Sikelelwa Mhlanga.
Tuks coach Maud Khumalo is contesting for coach of the season with CAF Champions League winning coach Jerry Tshabalala and Thinasonke Mbuli of UWC. Meanwhile JVW FC and Banyana-Banyana goalkeeper Kaylin Swart is competing with Royal AM’s Katlego Moletsane and UWC’s Regirl Ngobeni.
There are eight nominees for the Fan Player of the Season led by UWC and Banyana defender Fikile Magama, followed by Sundowns winger Chuene Morifi, JVW midfielder Robyn Moodaly, TS Galaxy sensation Nicole Michael also made the list along with Tuks goalkeeper Asa Rabalao, Michelle Sampson from Richmond, Jeanet Mokota from Royal AM and Durban Ladies’ Qiniso Shabangu.
