University of Johannesburg and University of Western Cape recorded vital wins on the road while TS Galaxy Queens’ pursuit to finish third in the Hollywoodbets Super League got a boost with a late 2-1 victory over TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies.
Sibongile Ntoane scored the opener for TUT in the first half which was cancelled out by Nicole Michaels and substitute Alicia Terhart to see the Rockets stay in fourth position with 55 points. Sizwe Sibiya’s charges have however narrowed the gap between themselves and third placed UJ, who defeated the relegated Thunderbirds Ladies 3-0, to just four points with two games in hand.
JVW FC missed a chance to stay in the chase for top three as they were defeated 2-1 by First Touch Academy in Soweto. The Blue Diamonds remained in fifth position with 46 points in 27 matches while the Limpopo side moved up to seventh place with 41 matches from 28 games.
Elsewhere, rookies Lindelani Ladies gave themselves a chance at survival as they narrowly defeated Durban Ladies 1-0 in the KZN derby. Lindelani remained second from bottom with 16 points, three points from City Lads who drew 1-1 with University of Fort Hare above them. However, the newbies have two matches still to play while the Lads from Gqeberha have played 26 matches.
