Tau Opens Up On Chiefs, Pirates & Downs Talk

Former Al Ahly winger Percy Tau has opened up on talk linking him with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates.

Tau, 31, has left Qatar SC after just six months and is currently a free agent, sending fans of the top three in the Premier Soccer League into a frenzy.

The Bafana winger, who has lifted three CAF Champions League titles, admitted he is waiting for the right offer, which could also come Chiefs – the club he supported growing up.

“Of course I have to pay attention to it, if that situation where to happen where I’ve got no club and Chiefs say can you come,” he told Robert Marawa on Marawa Sports Worldwide.

“But there is still other clubs in the PSL – I’ve played for Sundowns, I cannot write them off, it’s a team that I played for and I’ve got so much love with the team and the fans.

“It will have take… If Sundowns were not to offer me a contract and Chiefs does, then okay it’s not my fault, it will be their’s that I’d went to go and join Chiefs.

“But I’d listen to anybody – let’s not rule out Orlando Pirates or even Stellenbosch, SuperSport… My decision will be based on who will give me a contract.

“Of course Sundowns, they still have my love but it will be based on who offers me a contract because in the end of the day I still have to support my family and I’m not just gonna take any offer.”

Tau then insisted that he doesn’t ask for unreasonable amounts, and has always found quick solutions with his clubs.

“I’m very reasonable, whenever I speak about my contract dealings,” he added.

“I’ve never gotten the first offer in all contracts, because I’m reasonable and I try to be in good faith.

“I’m not gonna go and ask something you’re not gonna offer me.”

Marawa then offered a role play, saying if he was Kaizer Motaung Jr and offered Tau R450,000 a month for a two-year deal with an option, Tau replied “perfect”.
