Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana looks set to leave the club with Wydad Atheltic Club the latest to open talks for the Burundi international.
Bimenyimana, 25, was informed before the end of last season that he would be able to leave the club after his first season, as he scored eight goals in 21 games.
Despite being the club’s top scorer, Chiefs felt he didn’t fit their game plan and would be willing to sell him in order to free up a foreign quota spot.
Interest naturally has risen with loan enquiries in the DStv Premiership, Ukraine and a concrete offer arriving from the Ekstraklasa in Poland – with Europe being his preferred next move.
However, Wydad has now entered the race for his services and thrown a spanner in the works as the lure of the Botola Pro giants could be too hard to refuse for the Burundi star.
iDiski Time sources understand Bimenyimana has expressed his interest in joining the club but with interest from Europe and potentially remaining in South Africa, the next few days or hours are crucial to determine where his future lies for the 2023/24 season.
