Agent Reveals Details About Jali Situation

Andile Jali’s agent, Mike Mkaab, has explained why they are contesting the midfielder’s dismissal by Moroka Swallows.

Jali, 33, joined Swallows ahead of the 2023/24 campaign in what looked the marquee signing of a new era for the Dube Birds.

However, financial issues have caught up with Soweto giants once more, leading to the the dismissal of at least 22 players after they striked over non-payment in December – with the club yet to make any public announcements.

The club was fined R1 million by the Premier Soccer League DC, with R600,000 of the fine suspended, for not honouring their fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows – with both games also ruled as walkovers against them.

As more and more information about the situatiuon come out, Makaab has confirmed that Jali was also dismissed but his representatives Pro Sport are contesting the decision.

“Andile was one of the players that was dismissed by Swallows with a letter of dismissal and we are at the moment speaking to the club and we are contesting that dismissal,” he said on Gagasi FM.

“Just to let you know that AJ was injured. So he wasn’t available to train and he wasn’t available to play.

“That’s exactly the truth. AJ was injured, and wasn’t available to train, wasn’t available for that game [against Sundowns].

“So that’s what we’re dealing with at the moment but I’m sure we’ll get it resolved.”

“It’s not an easy situation because it’s the January transfer window,”

“In the January transfer window clubs have their budgets, clubs have filled certain positions and they’re not looking to strengthen in those positions, so it’s not as easy as just finding another club.”

Swallows have 14 days to sort out their mess before they will face Cape Town City on 13 February when the PSL resumes.
