Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has expressed surprise and disappointment with Sekhukhune United’s claims while confirming that Tshepo Mashiloane will join Orlando Pirates next season.
Mphahlele’s comments come as reports suggest that Babina Noko have signed three of his players in Sydney Malivha, Dan Ndlovu and Thuso Mogale ahead of the next season.
Mphahlele has clarified that Malivha and Mogale are not leaving Bakgaga as their contracts were extended for another two years and iDiski Times has seen the documents supporting the chairman’s claims.
However, Mphahlele added that Ndlovu is free to sign anywhere as he will be a free agent after June with the club boss saying he finds what the Betway Premiership side did disappointing and arrogant.
“These two boys Mogale and Malivha their contracts have been extended for another two years, both of them,” Mphahlele told iDiski Times.
“Their contracts were ending in June [2025] but before June ends, we’ve exercised around January the option [to renew] for the boys. So, they’re still contracted to us. I’m very much surprised and I’m very much disappointed because we are a professional team in as much as Sekhukhune is a professional team.
“I don’t understand when a professional team signs a professional player without even consulting with the team that has got a contract with the player. I don’t understand how they do their business, or they conduct their office because they should have at least enquired about how far their contracts are. You don’t just go around signing other team’s players it’s really arrogant.
The chairman says he spoke to Malivha and the player reassured him that he hasn’t signed with anybody. Meanwhile Mphahlele confirmed that his side have an agreement regarding the sale of 23-year-old Mashiloane to Pirates for next season however the player will leave at the end of June after receiving what’s due to him from Baroka.
“We still got to pay Mashiloane until the end of June, but Pirates have purchased Mashiloane for the coming season, not this season,” added the club boss.
“But if Pirates want Mashiloane earlier there’s no problem we’ve got an agreement with Pirates. We can always make provision for that, but we are going to pay Mashiloane at the end of June because his contract ends at the end of June and the Pirates contract begins on the first of July. From the first of July he is a Pirates player, until then he’s still our player and we pay him.”
The publication’s efforts to get a comment from Sekhukhune were in vain.
