Chiefs In Talks With In-Form Star Over New Contract

Kaizer Chiefs have opened talks with goalkeeper Brandon Petersen for a new contract, iDisk Times can confirm.

This publication established that Chiefs have opened talks with Petersen’s camp for a new deal, as the current one is set to expire at the end of the upcoming June.

Petersen arrived at Naturena in July 2021 after leaving Bidvest Wits as a free agent. He signed an improved contract in 2024, which was a two-year deal, including an option for the club, with the initial two year set to expire in June.

The 31-year old made 68 appearances in the black and gold of the Glamour Boys, keeping 30 clean sheets and conceding just 56 goals. ‘Beeza’ led Chiefs to the Nedbank Cup trophy last season, helping the club to end their 10-year trophy drought.

The former Ajax Cape Town keeper is currently leading the clean sheet charts in the Betway Premiership with 10 and became the first Chiefs goalkeeper to get to 10 clean sheets since Daniel Akpeyi in 2019/20 season.

With the FIFA World Cup fast approaching, Petersen will be eyeing to make the Bafana Bafana squad for the showpiece in North America.
