Chiefs Wanted Stellies Star

Kaizer Chiefs have asked Stellenbosch FC about the availability of left-back Fawaaz Basadien as they look to boost their squad for the upcoming season.

Amakhosi are in the process of another squad revamp after letting go of five players, namely Keagan Dolly, Sfiso Hlanti, Siyethemba Sithebe, Njabulo Ngcobo, and Jasond Gonzalez.

With Hlanti leaving, Chiefs became thinner in the left-back position with only Happy Mashiane, who can operate all positions on the left side, and Edmilson Dove as potential options.

As a consequence, Chiefs are in the market for a new left-back, potentially even two. iDiski Times can confirm that Amakhosi have enquired about the availability of Basadien at Stellenbosch but they were told he is not for sale.

The Cape Winelands side will be competing in five competitions this coming season, including the CAF Confederation Cup, and they aim to keep their key players for the upcoming campaign.

It seems Chiefs then moved to other targets and have agreed a deal with Orlando Pirates for Bongani Sam after also stepping back from talks with Petro de Luanda left-back Anderson Cruz.
