Stellenbosch FC have completed the signing of Neftchi academy graduate defender Turan Manafov.
This publication has it in good authority that Azerbaijan defender Manafov chose Stellenbosch FC over Romanian offers and the deal has been agreed. The 26-year-old left-back is set to join Stellies on a free transfer after his contract with Kapaz PFK expired.
Manafov is a Neftchi academy graduate and is now set to play outside his country for the first time in his career. The former Sabail FC defender represented the Azerbaijan national team at senior U21 level.
With Fawaaz Basadien and Omega Mdaka in that Stellenbosch left-back defence, the Cape Winelands still saw the need to have an addition.
The Azerbaijan international is the third Stellenbosch signing after Siviwe Nkwali from Cape Town Spurs and Muzomuhle Khanyi from Hungry Lions, though the Cape Winelands outfit are yet to officially announce the deals.
