Durban City have shown interest in Stellenbosch FC winger Faiz Abrahams for a loan deal after his possible move to Orlando Pirates collapsed.

‘Fire’ as he is affectionally known was close to moving to the Buccaneers in a major swap deal that would see goalkeeper Dublin Boon also joining Pirates, while Kabelo Dlamini would go in the opposite direction.

However, after Dlamini rejected the move, the deal collapsed and there haven’t been any talks regarding it at this stage.

Instead, the Citizens have come forward aiming to get Abrahams on loan, like they did with Kyle Jurgens, who has now earned a permanent move to the KwaZulu-Natal-based side.

The 21-year-old had a short-term loan spell with Israeli side Hapoel Kfar Saba, where he impressed with six goal contributions – three goals and three assists – in 11 appearances.

However, he then forced his move back to Mzansi and Stellenbosch had to pay a compensation fee to the Israeli side in order to avoid FIFA sanctions.

Since then, he has returned to Stellenbosch and made only five appearances, with Pirates thought to be keen on signing him.
