Former Orlando Pirates, Simba SC and Raja Club Athletic coach Fadlu Davids is in talks with Tanzanian giants Young Africans for their head coach role.
iDiski Times have it in good authority that Young Africans have approached Davids for the head coach role ahead of the new season. Timu ya Wananchi already tabled an offer to Davids, leaving the ball in his court.
Davids was with Simba SC in the 2024/25 season and finished the campaign just four points behind Young Africans, missing out on the league title on the final day of the season when Yanga beat Simba to secure the silverware.
However, he has been widely praised for his work with Simba, reviving the squad and turning them into title contenders again, with Davids’ side also reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final where they lost to RS Berkane.
However, in the beginning of the 2025/26 season Davids returned to Morocco to coach Raja Athletic Club after previously securing an unbeaten double under head coach Josef Zinnbauer.
But his stint was cut short after losing back-to-back matches in the end of May, despite still being in contention for the Botola Pro title.
His return to Tanzania would be a shock to many, especially with Young Africans being the biggest rivals of his former side Simba, who are now coached by Steve Barker.
Young Africans started the season with Portuguese manager Pedro Gonçalves. He was appointed in late 2025 following a stint by Romain Folz. But currently Abdihamid Moallin – the club’s technical director – is in charge as interim coach.
Yanga are currently sitting top of the NBC Premier League, they need a draw in their last game to secure their 27th league title. They will face sixth-placed JKT Tanzania away from home in their last league game.
