Former Bucs Winger Becomes Free Agent

Former Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates winger Riyaad Norodien has officially left Rwandan side Kiyovu Sports after just one season.

Norodien joined Kiyovu at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign with hope of ending the club’s 30 year league title drought after a brief stint without a club upon his return from Motema Pembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Unfortunately Kiyovu missed out on the league title on goal difference after losing their penultimate game of the season and APR FC retained their title, with both teams ending on 63 points.

Before his stint in Rwanda, the 28-year-old featured for DC Motema Pemba in the Democratic Republic of Congo and helped them to participate in the CAF Confederation Cup.

At this present moment, it is not clear whether Norodien will return home and try his luck in DStv Premiership or whether he will continue to play outside the borders.

Norodien came through the ranks at Ajax Cape Town before he was snapped up by Pirates in 2016. He made 20 appearances for the Buccaneers but joined Platinum Stars on loan in January 2018.

Six months later, he joined Cape Town City, making 32 appearances and lifting the 2018/19 MTN8 trophy but departed in February 2020. After brief stints with Cape Umoya and Cape Town Spurs, he joined Motema Pembe.
