TS Galaxy are set to trigger the contract option of Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic after he has impressed in his first four months with the club.
Nurkovic signed with the Rockets as a free agent back in September after his contract was not extended by Kaizer Chiefs.
The former Royal AM striker led Amakhosi to their first ever CAF Champions League final in 2019 in arguably his best season in South Africa.
After his trouble-some stint at Thwihli Thwahla, the 31-year-old made his debut in a Galaxy shirt against Richard Bay in October.
The Serbian scored his first goal in the black and red colours in a 2-0 win against Sekhukhune United, and has since scored four goals, including the winning goal in the Carling Knockout Cup semi-final against AmaZulu FC, which led Galaxy to their second cup final in club’s history.
Nurkovic signed a deal until the end of 2023/24 with Galaxy with an option to extend. This publication understands The Rochets are looking to trigger that option before the season ends.
Galaxy currently sit in that eighth spot on the DStv Premiership log, after winning three of their last four league games and aim to finish in the top eight for the first time since their existence.
They restart the league with a trip to Kaizer Chiefs on 13 February.
