SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has explained why he is excited his side have signed striker Terrence Dzvukamanja from Orlando Pirates.
The 27-year-old was unveiled as new SuperSport player on Friday, with the club announcing his signature “for an undisclosed transfer fee”.
The deal comes after Pirates released a statement on Monday, in which they expressed their “surprise by SuperSport United’s approach for Dzvukamanja’s services” and then announced they “released Dzvukamanja to SuperSport”.
Despite all controversy around the transfer, Hunt has explained his excitement at reuniting with his former striker.
”I know him very well as I have signed him before,” Hunt told the club’s media team.
“He is a versatile top player and can play in multiple positions, which is what we need. We are happy to have him, he is a good goal scorer and can also play in areas that you need a player.”
Dzvukamanja himself has revealed he has high targets with SuperSport and wants to add more silverware after helping the Buccaneers to win the domestic double in 2023/24.
“As a player I want to achieve a lot in the club. I want to score goals and obviously win trophies as well,” he explained.
Dzvukamanja joined Pirates from Bidvest Wits in 2020, making 76 appearances for the Buccaneers, scoring 16 goals. During his time at Wits, he played 60 games under Hunt, netting 15 times.
