Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has revealed his wishlist of players his former side should sign in the current transfer window.

Chiefs finished third in the league last season, a feat that also means they will compete on all fronts domestically and also in the CAF Confederation Cup. Amakhosi are in pre-season in Europe with new coach Fernando Da Cruz and have confirmed just two new players in defender Thabo Moloisane and goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner so far.

Khanye’s wish list includes striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, someone the iDiski TV analyst believes is sharp and has the basics of the game. There is also Emile Witbooi, Olisa Ndah, Langelihle Phili and also Sipho Mbule on the list, saying Amakhosi should’ve jumped on the latter before he moved to Iraq side Zakho SC.

“I was going to sign Mabasa [if I was in charge],” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“The way the club is playing they need a sharp striker, someone dynamic, someone who understands the basics of football. Someone who can receive the ball and create space for himself. The guy is unfortunate it’s a pity that he left at Pirates when they were winning every game.

“If he had left and Pirates started losing, people would be talking about him. But he went to Stellenbosch and still showed who he is, breaking Sundowns supporters’ hearts, scoring week in and week out there. So I’d bring in Mabasa.

“I’d also sign Ndah without hesitation because he has a winning mentality, even Witbooi. I’d also sign Langelihle Phili even Sipho Mbule. I know Sipho Mbule has left and congratulations to Mike Makaab for securing this move for him because I’ll be honest, after leaving Pirates I thought it’s over.

“But I would have had a conversation with him before he left. Chiefs should have signed him.”
